Will CFdesign Require Special Hardware?

The answer is no. From day one, our focus has been to bring CFD to the mechanical engineer’s desktop to work alongside all major CAD tools. If your current desktop runs your CAD systems well, then it will run CFdesign.

Of course, with the evolution of hardware and software technology, we are always looking for new ways to improve CFdesign to enable our customers to take advantage of those performance gains if needed. As an example, CFdesign 2010 supports the new Core i7 processor from Intel, delivering great simulation speed-up, so more scenarios can be included in design studies. Our services group has reported results up to 2.5X faster than a workstation w/ Intel® Core™2 Quad processor.

Also, CFdesign 2010 now automatically utilizes up to 4 cores out of the box without the need for additional HPC software. The CFdesign HPC Module is still available for customers looking for an even more robust solution with up to 5.5x results.
